BLOCUMENTA EXHIBITION + BLOCKATHON

14-16 June, Artspace Sydney.

Curated by Baden Pailthorpe and Denise Thwaites, Blocumenta was exhibited in the Artspace Ideas Platform and accompanied by a Blockathon co-presented with bitfwd Ventures with the support of University of Canberra, ACT Government, Australian National University, DAOstack, Sigma Prime and 20 community partners.

Featuring international artists Jonas Lund (Berlin/London) and terra0 (Berlin) in the exhibition space, with local artists Dara Gill, Jess Herrington, Anna Madeleine and Gwen Taualai competing in the Blockathon event, Blocumenta looked at the impact of blockchain upon culture and nature, asking whether this new technology has the capacity to enable concrete social and economic change.

FORAGED STORIES HAIG PARK EXPERIMENTS.

23 November - 7 December, 2019.

Foraged Stories is a Blocumenta project developed as part of the Haig Park Experiments, powered by local Canberra start-up Smart Press and supported by the ACT Government and City Renewal Authority. A digital library meets community garden, Foraged Stories asks: how many stories can we find in Haig Park? Can we cultivate a story economy from the memories and desires circulating through this place?

Through our proof-of-concept app (downloadable here through App Store), the community of Haig Park can read and contribute to an ever-growing library of visual, textual and audio stories, collecting stamps along the way. Foraged Stories includes a curated series of local artist-led workshops in Haig Park to assist community in re-imagining, recording and sharing their experiences of this public space.

Explore the community library through our web viewing platform here, and learn more about the research behind it through our Medium blog post.
